Rest area time limits

There is no single national time limit for truck parking at a rest area. The state, and sometimes the individual facility, sets it. The limit that matters is the one posted at that lot. A number in a blog post is not a defense if the sign says something else.

What actually varies

Some states post a maximum stay, often a few hours.
Some allow overnight parking. Some prohibit it.
Cars and trucks are not always under the same rule.
Welcome centers may close the building on a schedule that does not match the parking lot.
A rest area can be seasonal, closed for construction, or signed “no trucks” even if a map still shows it.

Those are patterns, not a finding about your state. Assigning a pattern to a named state without a current official source would make this page worse.

How to use the checklist

Each row is a maintenance slot. The agency name is the department to check. The status stays on TODO until someone records a current, citable rule (statute, regulation, or a DOT rest-area page) and the date they checked it. Do not replace TODO with a number from memory or from a forum.
